David Coleman,
Founder and Managing Director
David Coleman, Founder and Managing Director of Collaborative Strategies (CS) has been involved with groupware, collaborative technologies, and knowledge management (KM) since 1989. He is a frequent public speaker, an industry analyst, and author of books and magazine articles on electronic collaboration and knowledge management. David is on the advisory board of the upcoming CTC (collaboration technologies conference) in June in Boston, and is a principal in Collaboratory a hand-on, scenario-based collaboration experience that will be shown publicly for the first time at the CTC conference.
David was the author of a recent report on Real time Collaboration tools and trends (see: reports.collaborate.com) and is a frequent blogger on the CS site, in the Collaboration Blog, and the Technologies to Watch blog. He is the editor of Inside Collaboration, a free monthly newsletter from Collaborative Strategies and also is the author of a number of white papers on a variety of topics in collaboration that can be found (for free) at the Collaborative Strategies site at www.collaborate.com. David E. Antila
Advisory Services
Mr.
Antila is a senior product strategist and technologist with a unique
blend of profitable business management, entrepreneurial, market
visioning and customer interaction skills.
He is responsible for management of the technical aspects of the
Collaborative Strategies Advisory Services practice. Mr. Antila
is also active in our Publications area and recently authored “The
Smart Suite Sweet Spot: A collaboration-centric view of Smart Enterprise
Suites.”
His key strengths are:
- Depth and breadth of experience at a senior level in mature
and start-up models
- Proven ability to envision, develop and take products to market,
domestically and internationally
- Effective and profitable product management, marketing, risk

Since the 1998 acquisition of his former corporation, WorkFlow
Partners, he has held leadership positions in the service delivery
and research & development areas at JetForm Corporation, a business
process management software company, as well as senior product strategy
roles at Platform Computing, the worldwide leader in Grid and distributed
computing software.
Most recently he was Director, Product Management at Platform Computing,
responsible for the strategic planning for and lifecycle management
of the Performance Management software portfolio. Prior positions
included Director, LSF Product Management. Mr. Antila has also served
on the Product Strategy group and initiated and assured implementation
of the software lifecycle management process, a collaborative effort
between product management and development.
Prior to that, he was the Vice President and General Manager of
JetForm’s Global e-Process Business Group, and was responsible
for the overall management of this business unit, which conceives,
designs, builds, produces and supports the industry award-winning
e-Process Framework, then rated by DataQuest as the #1 product in
its market segment. This robust business process management (BPM)
software system forms a key part of the integrated solution provided
by JetForm to its customers. While at JetForm, Mr. Antila was a
member of the Technology Integration Board, which oversees the various
commitments JetForm has made to be an “easy-to-integrate-with”
XML-based open architecture. Mr. Antila was an Officer of the JetForm
Corporation and a member of the Executive Leadership team.
Mr. Antila also served as the Chief Software Architect for Ariel
Software and as a Founder, Principal & COO of Three R Group
Advertising, both based in Chicago.
David holds a bachelors degree from Kenyon College.
Ann Marcus
Associate Analyst
Ann
M. Marcus joins Collaborative Strategies as an analyst and consultant
with more than two decades of experience in communications and technology.
Ann brings strong people, process and systems skills to the organization
as well as a deep fascination with understanding, identifying and
addressing the captivating challenges that occur at the intersection
of humans and thinking machines.
Ann's studies in linguistics, ethnomethodology, and business systems
analysis form the underpinnings of her life-long interest in the
ways people work together, communicate about their work, and establish
processes and tools to streamline their efforts.
14 years of employment with top technology publishers, event management
and communications organizations-where she gained valuable experience,
developed skills and forged key relationships-lead to 7 years as
an independent business communication and process consultant. She
has established a reputation as a creative thinker, a clear and
effective communicator and a skilled relationship facilitator and
nurtures an extensive professional worldwide network from which
she culls collaborators as her projects require.
Ann holds a B.A. in Sociology from University of California,
Los Angeles (UCLA) and an M.B.A. in Decision Sciences from San Francisco
State University. She is currently doing coursework toward a PMI
project management certification.
Ann is on the steering committees of the Women In Technology International
(WITI), Computer Human Interaction Forum of Oregon (CHIFOO), and
Fast Company Magazine's Company of Friends. She also participates
in communities of practice in knowledge management, organizational
storytelling and video ethnography.
Bob Sayle
Advisory Services
Bob is a principal in the advisory services group at Collaborative Strategies. He focuses on strategic planning and process analysis for integrating collaboration technologies with B2B processes in a variety of industries. He is also one of the creators of our "Selling Collaboration" service and helps to deliver that service to a variety of vendors that want to improve their ability to sell collaboration to their clients.
Bob has established a broad base of business and technical experience in various consulting, sales, and management positions spanning more than twenty-five years in the computer software and telecommunications industries. His consulting experience includes strategic planning, business process analysis, system design, implementation, and project management. He has worked with clients in many different industries including manufacturing, telecom, biotech, distribution, financial services, and utilities. Bob has specialized in the process automation market since 1993.
Bob joined Collaborative Strategies after leaving JetForm Corporation, where he spent three years as VP of Workflow Systems in the Professional Services organization and VP of North American Partner Operations in the Sales organization. Prior to that he was a co-founder of Workflow Partners, which specialized in business process automation and engaged in the design, development and implementation of workflow applications. WorkFlow Partners was acquired by JetForm in 1998.
Prior to Workflow Partners, Bob held management positions at IBM/ROLM, including Director of Manufacturing Systems and Director of Business Strategy for the National Operations Division. Bob began his career with Andersen Consulting where he was a Senior Manager and specialized in working with clients in the manufacturing industry.
Mike Dressler
Advisory Services
Mike is a principal in the advisory services group at Collaborative Strategies LLC (CS). He currently manages business development for the firm and actively works with clients in developing implementation strategies around business process automation and collaboration. He is also one of the creators of CS’ Selling Collaboration service, and helps to deliver that service to a variety of vendors that want to improve their ability to sell collaboration to their clients.
Mike has 20 years of business and technical experience in professional services, business development, product management, and sales in the software industry. His experience includes new product planning and development, strategic and tactical marketing, and competitive market positioning. He has very strong qualifications in structuring and negotiating profitable joint ventures and strategic alliances in the software market. Mike has specialized in the process automation and collaborative technology market since 1993.
Mike was previously with JetForm Corporation, where he was Vice President of Enterprise Consultants in the Services organization. Prior to that, he started Workflow Partners with Robert Sayle; Workflow Partners specialized in business process automation and engaged in design, development, and implementation of workflow applications. WorkFlow Partners was acquired by JetForm in 1998. Prior to Workflow Partners, Mike founded Management Factware, a software firm that developed database application development tools for the dBase market, and Dressler/Beall Associates, which specialized in market research for technology companies.
